  • 1 small onion, diced

Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

3. Cook the Mushrooms and Aromatics:

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and mushrooms, cooking until the mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle in the thyme and stir to combine.

4. Assemble the Frittata:

  1. Reduce the heat to low and spread the mushroom mixture evenly in the skillet.
  2. Pour the egg mixture over the mushrooms, tilting the pan to ensure the eggs cover the entire surface.
  3. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the top.

5. Bake the Frittata:

  1. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

6. Garnish and Serve:

  1. Sprinkle the frittata with fresh parsley before slicing into wedges.
  2. Serve warm with toast, a side salad, or fresh fruit for a complete breakfast.

Tips for Success:

  • Add Protein: For extra protein, include cooked chicken, bacon, or sausage in the mushroom mixture.
  • Customize Vegetables: Spinach, bell peppers, or zucchini can be added for additional flavor and nutrition.
  • Nonstick Option: If you don’t have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the cooked mushroom mixture to a greased baking dish before adding the egg mixture.

Pairings for Breakfast:

  • Bread: Pair with a slice of sourdough or whole-grain toast.
  • Beverages: A hot cup of coffee, tea, or freshly squeezed juice complements this dish perfectly.
  • Fruit: Serve with a side of seasonal fruits like berries or melon.

Enjoy this hearty and flavorful mushroom breakfast frittata—a dish that brings comfort and elegance to your mornings!
